Part of the fun of the field trips to the Hinge Zone is in practicing important techniques such as abseiling and jumaring, to allow us to rescue ourselves should we fall into a crevasse. Only blue light filters through the ice and snow and the bottom of the crevasse is often hidden in the deep blue gloom.
