Return to the Hinge Zone
Pictures from another winter trip to the Hinge Zone in March 2005.
I'd seen some fantastic crevasses on an earlier trip last year but this was truly breathtaking. Below the narrow entranceway it opened up into an enormous cavern easily big enough to swallow a reasonable sized house. All around the walls twinkled with ice crystals and snow formations and the whole thing was glowing an unearthly blue/purple colour. Even these photos don't really do it justice.
