This aerial photo shows the McDonald Ice Rumples as well as the first few Creeks (to the left near the plane wing). In this region the moving ice shelf is grounded against a pinnicle of rock below. This causes a tremendous amount of pressure on the ice shelf which causes huge waves of fractured and crevassed ice.
