Gandhi and bungee

We had a fancy dress party on Saturday night, with the theme this time being historical figures. There were a wide range of famous people in attendance including Nelson Mandela, Jimi Hendrix, Ned Kelly, Count Dracula, Robin Hood and Amelia Earhart. I decided to come as Gandhi which meant shaving my head with a razor and liberally applying the facepaint.

Later that night we decided to repeat another old Halley tradition: Bar room bungee. The rules are simple - try and plant a post-it note as far down the corridor as you can while attached to a long length of elastic. We had three goes each and the furthest post-it note at the end wins.

It would have been pretty funny anyway but the fact that we were all still in fancy dress made it all the more amusing to watch - the sight of Jimi Hendrix or Robin Hood tearing down the corridor before being dragged back along the floor was quite surreal. Here are a few pictures:

The final league table:

  1. Robin Hood (Steve)
  2. Osama Bin Laden (Ian)
  3. Mike (as himself)
  4. Nelson Mandela (Kev)
  5. Jimmi Hendrix (Craig)
  6. Tommy Cooper (Gareth)
  7. Ned Kelly (Matt)
  8. Gandhi (me)
  9. Wayne Rooney (Bryn)
  10. Dorothy from Wizard of Oz (Vanessa)
  11. Amelia Earhart (Frances)

As a side note I really expected this to be one of the few webpages on the internet to mention Gandhi and Bungee at the same time. Imagine my surprise to find that there are several thousand other pages that do too!
