Melt tank party

Last night was the annual melt tank party down at the Drewery Building. The Drewery is the summer accommodation building, so at the beginning of the winter it is shut down to conserve fuel. Fresh water down here is supplied by melting snow in a big tank so every year the winterers take the opportunity to have a jacuzzi in it just before it's drained. For the continuing winterers it's the first bath in a year so it's a bit of a luxury.

Tommo the electrician rigged up a pump to create the bubbles and we were ready to go. The hardest part was getting in - you had to run out of the building in just your swimming gear and dive through the small entrance hole, being careful not to touch anything metal on the way (as it was cold enough that you'd stick to it!). Once inside it was lovely and warm though, except if you were near the entrance where you felt a bit of the -30C wind chill in your hair!
