Technical Notes

This website is written in valid, tableless HTML/CSS which is best viewed in a browser that supports web standards, but is accessible in all web browsers.

The content is managed primarily by Movable Type, with some hand-coded PHP/MySQL elements. Glossary entries are powered using the MTMacro plug-in. Mail-to-blog enabled using a modified version of qmail2mt. Photo-to-blog enabled using the updated version of mail2entry. The gallery is a modified version of PHP Slideshow.

The site is hosted by Freedom to Operate. There is an RSS feed of the entries here.

The Halley temperature readings are provided by the British Antarctic Survey. Some photos and text are used with permission of Cool Antarctica and Kevin O'Rourke.
